Mr. Nihal Chand Wadhwani
Founder of House of Fairlady | INDIA 1978

Our journey started when Mr. Nihal Chand Wadhwani born in 1947, left his prestigious job as a bank employee In India to pursue his love for fashion. His search for better opportunities brought him to Hong Kong in 1973, after which he strongly felt that there was no looking back. He had finally found something that he was passionate about. Gradually he travelled to parts of Africa and Europe, searching, working, learning and understanding everything that the world of fashion had for him to see.

In 1978, he finally decided to come back to India and settle down with his own business. Catering to the Indian market, starting from north India and eventually the South, his influence grew, dealing with sarees made in Lucknow. It wasn't until 2001 when House Of Fairlady received their first international client and opened the path to becoming the most exquisite fashion house of India, selling to the top luxury brands of the world.

The 1964 film, 'My Fairlady' inspired Mr Nihal C. Wadhwani

Looking at our embroideries, a very particular scene comes in mind. Audrey Hepburn draped in a beautifully embroidered and beaded gown walking up the stairs with onlookers gazing at her. From butlers to royalties, everyone was awestruck by her grace.

The 1964 film, My Fair Lady inspired Mr. Nihal C. Wadhwani, reminding him of the love of his life, his wife. Thus when he started his business of Lucknow sarees in 1978, he carried with him the epitome of inspiration and beauty. He named his creation; his business, House of Fairlady.

The origin of House of Fairlady

House of Fairlady started its journey in the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, in 1978. The city is known for its rich history, culture, art, cuisine, architecture and mehmaan-nawazi (hospitality). It fills its heart with abundance of love, tied together with delicate care, thread by thread, knot by knot; a paisley of exquisite beauty.
